Who is behind Discover Colombia?
Behind Kolumbien Entdecken stands Lukas Hohl-Jaramillo — half Colombian, half Swiss, and deeply connected to both countries. His mother is Colombian and his father Swiss; both were born and raised in Colombia. Family, close friendships, and many years of experience have made Colombia feel like a second home to him. Lukas Hohl-Jaramillo’s vision is to connect Switzerland and Colombia — culturally, socially, and on a human level. Through his travel agency kolumbienentdecken.ch, he and his team organize individual and unforgettable journeys that go far beyond classic tours, offering authentic insights into the country, its people, and its culture. In addition, Lukas is a co-owner in Medellín of the boutique hostel RANGO and the Swiss bakery BREAD FACTORY, located in the heart of the city and designed as meeting places for travelers and locals alike.
Alongside travel planning, Lukas has been socially engaged for many years. For several years, he was part of the “Diplomacia Deportiva” project, supported by the Colombian and Swiss governments, which provided young people from conflict-affected regions of Colombia with new perspectives through sports, culture, and education. He is also dedicated to connecting committed individuals with meaningful organizations and projects, and to fostering enthusiasm for social engagement within Colombia itself. In Switzerland, Lukas organizes — through his event agency — the LAKELIVE Festival in Biel/Bienne, where Colombian artists such as Carlos Vives, Juanes, or Bacilos regularly perform. In this way, he brings Colombia’s joie de vivre and cultural diversity to Switzerland as well, strengthening the exchange between the two countries.
“I look forward to introducing you to Colombia. Because the only risk is that you’ll want to stay.”
