Why Colombia and not another country?
It had always been my dream to travel to South America, if only because of the Spanish. However, the fact that I know someone who can give me tips was the decisive factor in my decision to go to Colombia.
How did your journey come about?
Mainly with the help of Kolumbienentdecken.ch as well as my own research and tips from friends.
Why did you decide to make the trek to Ciudad Perdida, among other things?
Spending four days in nature or in the jungle, without the internet or any other luxury, was what I imagined to be a unique adventure – and that’s exactly what it was! Simply indescribable.
What expectations did you have of Colombia and what did you already know about the country?
Everyone who has ever been to Colombia has highly recommended this country. Apart from the well-known TV series about the story of Pablo Escobar, however, I didn’t know much and wanted to be surprised.

You’ve seen a lot – what would you definitely recommend as a highlight?
There is so much! But the city of Medellín, for example, with its incredible diversity and history, completely fascinated me.
How did you perceive the diversity of Colombia?
In Colombia you can find almost everything: history, interesting big cities, fine food, multi-day trekking tours through the jungle or the Amazon, white sandy beaches with clear turquoise water, colorful houses or beautiful colonial-style towns and much more.
How were you looked after by the local guides?
Simply great. They were always very helpful and reliable.
How would you describe Colombians?
Colombians are open, helpful and very warm people. They are proud of their country and see it as an honor that we visit them in their country and are no longer afraid of it.
What surprised you most in Colombia?
The size and diversity of this country and the warmth of the people.
Is there anything that disappointed you?
Only the realization that the five weeks were over far too quickly and that it will be a while before I can come back here again.
What was a particularly memorable event?
A spontaneous evening salsa lesson on the roof terrace of my hostel in the middle of Medellín.
Did you imagine Colombia as you expected or as you were told?
No, my expectations of this country were definitely exceeded!
