Why did you choose Colombia?

My long-time friend Katharina asked me if I would like to accompany her on a trip for a while. She found out about kolumbienentdecken.ch through friends and acquaintances and when she showed me the reports on Facebook, our destination was set.

How were you advised by kolumbienentdecken.ch?

Thanks to Lukas’ competent and trustworthy advice, we quickly realized that there was a lot of know-how behind it. Our travel wishes were fully taken into account and fulfilled.

What expectations did you have of Colombia and what did you know about the country?

The first thing that came to my mind was the negative aspects, such as crime, drugs and kidnappings. However, as I have a friend from Bogota, I liked Colombia more. After the consultation and the first photos from travel reports, my interest was piqued. However, I tried not to have too many expectations so that I could approach the situations and experiences with an open mind. And I succeeded.

You’ve seen a lot – what would you definitely recommend as a highlight?

Ciudad Perdida was my absolute highlight. Not because it offers comfort and relaxation, but because it is an absolute adventure – because you hike through the jungle without cell phone reception, with only the bare essentials and in a small group. Hiking through mud, rivers and over rocks with already wet shoes and feet and pushing yourself to your limits makes it a unique experience that you can be proud of and will never forget. As a group, we also made great friends from all over the world.

How did you perceive the diversity of Colombia?

Green landscapes, lively and historic cities, warm and helpful people and beautiful Caribbean beaches.

How were you looked after by the local guides?

Reliable, friendly and punctual.

How would you describe Colombians?

Hospitable, warm, helpful and spirited.

What surprised you most in Colombia?

The intense colors of the houses, the different climates and that they eat a lot of meat.

Is there anything that disappointed you?

No – just that I had to travel home again…

What was a particularly memorable event?

Taking a fresh dip in the river after arriving in Ciudad Perdida. Watching the flowing water with the sounds of the jungle and simply being and realizing how lucky you are to be able to experience this.
