CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR’S EVE IN COLOMBIA

Why did you choose Colombia?

Our destination was South America. We became aware of kolumbienentdecken.ch through our children, who know Lukas Hohl-Jaramillo personally, and through social media. Our interest was piqued and the more we found out about this country, the more curious we became. When Lukas from kolumbienentdecken.ch made us an initial offer, it was clear to us that our trip would take us to Colombia. Traveling to a country that is not yet so dominated by tourism was also very appealing.

How did you feel during your stay?

We always felt very comfortable and in good hands. At no point did we feel uncomfortable and we were never afraid, as many people might assume.

What impressed you most in Colombia?

We were most impressed by the nature and landscape, the hospitality, the discovery of new fruits and the culinary delights in general. We were also very impressed that traveling through Colombia went smoothly.

You were in Colombia during Christmas and New Year. What was the atmosphere like in the country?

We spent a very cozy Christmas in Salento. Christmas Eve with a tree and presents, as we know it in Switzerland, didn’t happen here. We had a nice meal in a restaurant and didn’t have any Christmas stress. However, the Christmas lights were everywhere in Colombia and were very beautiful and colorful. We spent New Year’s Eve in a traditional restaurant in Medellin. The atmosphere was great from start to finish. It was loud, colorful and young and old danced and celebrated together. We really enjoyed this special evening with Lukas Hohl-Jarmillo from kolumbienentdecken.ch and Nicole.

What was your most exciting experience?

The whole trip as a family. The combination of our different destinations was an exciting experience. It is difficult to name one specific experience as we experienced so many new things. There was something for everyone, be it mountains, coffee plantations, lakes, the sea, big cities or small colonial villages, food and drink, culture, encounters with different people and much more.

Why would you travel to Colombia again?

Despite our three-week stay, we only traveled to a small part of this beautiful country. That’s why we would travel to Colombia again in a heartbeat so that we can discover even more.

Which was your favorite place and why?

All of them! Every place was unique in its own way.

How was the support from kolumbienentdecken.ch & Travelombia?

Brilliant, we couldn’t have imagined better support. Even before our departure we had a personal meeting with Lukas from kolumbienentdecken.ch. From the first day in Colombia, we had personal contact with Alex from Travelombia at all times. Not everyone can claim to have a personal WhatsApp group with the trip organizer.

How did you like the selected hotels?

According to our requirements. Every location was perfect for us on this trip.

Did the route and the choice of activities suit you?

We wouldn’t change a thing. Our first trip through Colombia was so perfect for us!
