Alone and without Spanish in Colombia
Why did you choose Colombia and how did your trip come about?
Because my tennis coach and my kindergarten friend have Colombian roots and are important people in my life, I really wanted to get to know their culture. It came about very spontaneously while watching an FC Orpund football match.
You got to know the coffee region, the Caribbean coast and the city of Medellin. Tell us a bit about your impressions.
Salento was the perfect start. Small, familiar, colorful & beautiful nature, such as the wax palms. It was also interesting to learn about the coffee production process. I liked it best in Medellin. Great people, an interesting history, unique nature tours and a lively nightlife. I’m lovin it! I found absolute relaxation in the Caribbean. Sun, beach and sea! The great thing about it was that you practically had the whole beach to yourself.
What impressed you the most during your trip?
The diverse culture. I have the superpower of carrying two cultures within me. One Iranian and one Swiss. I like to call getting to know other cultures a superpower, because it allows me to pick out the positive things in my life.
How would you characterize a typical Colombian?
Easy-going, humorous, uncomplicated, helpful, sly!
How did you perceive the issue of safety?
In general, I never felt unsafe. The people were extremely helpful and understanding. However, I would recommend a basic knowledge of Spanish.
Was the tourism boom in Colombia noticeable?
Not really, except in Cartegena. Interest in Colombia is certainly growing, and that’s a good thing!
How was the service provided by kolumbienentdecken.ch?
Excelente! All the necessary measures were taken at short notice, as the request was made spontaneously, to make the trip possible at all. In addition, the status was constantly checked during the trip and the next steps were communicated. 10 out of 10!
What is the biggest difference between Switzerland and Colombia?
Poverty and unemployment are much more pronounced in Colombia. However, people are creative and try to improve their situation in every possible way.
Why do you recommend Colombia?
Because the country offers everything you could wish for. Interesting facts, nature, party & relaxation.
What else I wanted to say:
It certainly wasn’t the last time I was there. Just do it! It’s definitely worth it.
