What was your motivation to discover Colombia?

We had already heard and read a lot about Colombia. On the one hand, the untouched nature, the beautiful beaches and the friendly people, and on the other, the crime and drugs that had dominated Colombia for a long time. So we really wanted to discover Colombia and get our own impression of the country

What was the craziest thing you experienced during your stay in Colombia?

Setting up camp for the night in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by wild animals in complete darkness, and then sleeping in an army hammock in the pouring rain with monkeys screaming wildly.

How would you describe the people in Colombia?

The Colombian people are very open, warm and helpful. Even on the street, you will not be left alone if you have a problem and ask the locals for help.

Were your expectations of Colombia fulfilled?

We knew Colombia mainly from stories told by other friends and from the TV series Narcos. As a result, we expected cheerful people, a big gap between rich and poor, fine coffee and beautiful nature. We were able to experience a very varied and exciting trip through Colombia and get to know many facets of this country. Our expectations were exceeded. Colombia is on the rise in terms of tourism, which speaks volumes for the culture. You feel very welcome! Where more could be done is in the culinary area, there are many good restaurants, but we don’t remember the local cuisine as being outstanding.

Why would a second trip to Colombia be worthwhile?

After 15 days in Colombia, you have only seen a very small part of this huge country, and there is still much more to discover.

Colombia in one sentence:

From the jungle in the south to the Caribbean in the north, Colombia is an extremely diverse and exciting country with a warm and open population, both in its untouched nature and in its bustling cities.
